(Last updated October 2025)

At Benana Music Studio Ltd, we believe that music is for everyone.
We are committed to promoting equality, celebrating diversity, and ensuring inclusion across all areas of our teaching, studio activities, recruitment, and community engagement.

1. Our Commitment

Benana Music Studio Ltd complies with the Equality Act 2010, which protects against discrimination based on the following nine protected characteristics:
age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation.

We treat everyone with fairness, dignity and respect and actively promote an environment free from discrimination, harassment, or victimisation.
This includes recognising and supporting neurodivergent individuals (such as those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia or other learning differences) as part of our inclusive practice.
We are committed to ensuring that every student, teacher, contractor and visitor has the opportunity to participate fully in music-making and professional life, regardless of background or circumstance.

2. Accessibility & Reasonable Adjustments

Under Section 20 of the Equality Act 2010, Benana Music Studio has a duty to make reasonable adjustments for disabled or neurodivergent students, teachers and visitors.
We will always seek to accommodate individual needs wherever possible, including:
• Offering online or alternative lesson formats when in-person access is difficult.
• Providing large-print or digital resources on request.
• Adjusting lesson pacing, communication styles and sensory environments to support neurodiverse learners.
• Making reasonable adjustments for staff and contractors, such as flexible scheduling, quiet workspaces, or alternative communication formats.
• Providing access support where feasible; however, step-free access may vary between teaching locations, and we will always discuss available options in advance.

3. Inclusive Learning & Representation

We celebrate diversity across our curriculum and community, encouraging a range of musical styles, voices and traditions.
We aim to make every student and teacher feel seen, represented and valued.

4. Recruitment & Engagement

Benana Music Studios Ltd is an equal-opportunity organisation.
All recruitment, contracting, and selection decisions are based on merit, skills and suitability for the role.
We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and experiences, including neurodivergent and disabled musicians.
We do not tolerate discrimination or bias in any aspect of employment, contracting, or professional development.

5. Safeguarding, Behaviour & Conduct

Discriminatory, bullying or harassing behaviour of any kind — from staff, students, parents or visitors — will be treated as a safeguarding and disciplinary matter in line with our Safeguarding & Lesson Conduct Policy.
All teachers and staff share responsibility for upholding these principles in their day-to-day work.

6. Reporting Concerns & Continuous Improvement

If you have a concern, accessibility request, or inclusion-related complaint, please contact:
Teresa Walker (Designated Safeguarding Lead) at benanamusicstudio@gmail.com, or speak directly to a company director.
We investigate all equality and inclusion concerns fairly and sensitively.

We regularly review our practices, facilities and materials to ensure that they remain inclusive and representative of the communities we serve. Feedback is always welcome to help us improve accessibility and wellbeing for everyone.
