Where do Benana drum lessons take place?
Most Benana drum lessons take place at Pure Rehearsal Studios, 2 Endle Street, Southampton, SO14 5FZ. A small amount of drum tuition is also available at Dimond Road in Bitterne Park.
Do I learn on an acoustic drum kit?
At Pure Rehearsal Studios, drum tuition uses acoustic drum kits. Dimond Road uses hybrid drum kits and has much more limited drum availability.
Why do you mainly teach drums at Pure?
Pure is a professional rehearsal studio designed around live musicians. Its acoustic drum kits allow students to develop real acoustic-kit dynamics, control, coordination and performance skills.
Do you teach complete beginners?
Yes. Complete beginners are very welcome. Your teacher can start with grip, posture, coordination, simple beats and playing along with music before gradually introducing more complex skills.
Are drum lessons suitable for adults?
Absolutely. We teach children, teenagers and adults, including adults starting an instrument for the first time or returning to drums after a long break.
Can I learn the songs I actually like?
Yes. Personalisation is central to the Benana approach. Your musical interests can become part of your lessons alongside the technique and musicianship needed to progress.
Do I have to take drum grades?
No. Drum grades are available for students who enjoy structured goals, but they're optional. You can focus on songs, technique, performance, band skills or your own individual goals instead.
How long are drum lessons?
Benana offers 30-minute, 45-minute and 60-minute studio lessons. We can help you choose the most suitable duration for your age, level and goals.
How much are drum lessons in Southampton?
Current studio lesson prices are £26 for 30 minutes, £32 for 45 minutes and £37 for 60 minutes, including VAT. Please check our fees page for the latest pricing and terms.

Yes. New students can start with a free 20-minute taster session. You can meet a teacher, discuss your goals and experience a Benana drum lesson before deciding whether you'd like to continue.
